RE-TRIMMED SEATS!

My birthday present was re trimmed seats. got them done in black suede and red stitching. the only problem was because we removed all the plastic trim when we took off the roof, the rear seats backs would slump to far back when someone sat on them. to fix this we took some solid black pvc pipe and drilled through them and cut them to size. after this the two rear seats fitted nicely.

The last two photos are our plan to put a bench at the back since the rear two folding seats cant fit due to the big roll cage planted in its place. although the plan isn't final, we're hoping to turn the space beneath the bench into a box for storage seen as the 90 has so little.

Rock sliders

We did the same process as we did to the rear cross member to the rock slider after we saw the results.

Rear Cross member rust

We decided to tackle the rear cross member because the rust was just irritating and was a good exercise.we used sand paper and wire brushes to first get off the surface rust. we then used a "rust buster" paint to convert and kill any more rust left over. we then  primed and painted it

Fitting the hood

while we were fitting the profile, our trimmer was making our hood. we already had a rear half of an SVX hood. it included the tailgate flap and side windows but not the front, which covers the driver.

The trimmer sourced us the same Mohair material and mocked up one for us. he used an existing completed svx hood as a stencil. the advantage of us doing it in two parts means we can choose how to join the two parts. instread of stitching them, we chose to connect by zip and this allows to turn our landy into a sexy bikini top in the summer, which would only cover the driver.

Making Aluminium profile for SVX hood to fit on

the SVX came with a special aluminium proile on the sides to fit the hood which keeps the tension. the standard defender doesnt have this so we made our own. we used 6mm and 3mm aluminium to do this.
